Never Squeal
I've been listening to Ween nonstop over the past week or so, to
properly prepare for the back-to-back concerts I'll be seeing at the
Denver Fillmore Wednesday and Thursday. In honor of the Boognish, here are a few songs (arranged by topic) my mother would never listen to (never mind the hundreds of Ween songs that don't have offensive titles, but still have offensive lyrics). Stop reading now if naughty words bother you.
F-Bombs
- you fucked up
- she fucks me
- the fucked jam
- big fat fuck
Ween-ies
- put the coke on my dick
- waving my dick in the wind
- flies on my dick
- touch my tooter
Medical Conditions
- mononucleosis
- the HIV song
- spinal meningitis
Just Plain Frightening
- mushroom festival in hell
- cover it with gas and set it on fire
- demon sweat
- help me scrape the mucus off my brain
Misogyny
- common bitch
- baby bitch
- L.M.L.Y.P.
- piss up a rope
Didn't Fit in Those Other Categories
- booze me up and get me high
- hey fat boy (asshole)
- poop ship destroyer
- reggaejunkiejew
- don't shit where you eat
- papa zit
But that's only 25 songs or so, out of hundreds. So maybe she would be a Ween fan, after all...
I was on the Ween website (new album coming out in a few weeks!), and went over the "Waste" part of the site, which is where Deaner writes random stuff. Right now, he's linking to a bunch of awesome Stevie Wonder clips on YouTube. Here are a couple of them:
Stevie playing "Superstition" on Sesame Street!
The owner of Short's Brewing Company, located in Bellaire, Michigan, is a big Gene and Dean Ween fan. He named everything on his menu after Ween songs. Pretty cool, but the song names rarely have any relation to the food. It's like he drew a bunch of song names out of a hat. I don't know that I'd want to order a "Mutilated Lips" pizza...
Another one from Shinola, Vol 1. Ween rocks, and that's all there is to it.
I just got Ween's Shinola vol. 1, which is a bunch of outtakes. Needless to say, it's awesome. And there's stuff from throughout the years, covering all their styles. Here's one called called "Tastes Good on th' Bun." It's classic Ween- they repeat that phrase over and over and over and over...
I'm up to 4626 songs on the iPod. I'm going back through the alphabet, and being less selective- apparently I'm going to be able to fit a lot more of my CD collection than I originally thought. The shuffle is starting to become a lot more varied (last time I did this, it had only 2769 songs to choose from)
- David Bowie- "Fashion" Hmmm- not a very good song. And it made a one-disc Bowie greatest hits? (Changesbowie) I'll stick with The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, thank you very much!
- Ben Folds- "The Ascent of Stan"
- Bob Marley- "Jammin'" (12" Mix)
- Sam Bush- "World's Shortest Rawhide" A bad one to have on an iPod. It's a 6-second mandolin song, followed by a minute and 18 seconds of silence, then Bobby Osborne talking for three minutes about some mandolin he bought from Pee Wee Lambert...
- Trip Shakespeare- "Hidden" (Crickets Chirping) What a killer back-to-back combo! This is the end of Trip Shakespeare's Lulu album, and it's back from the days when "hidden tracks" were en vogue. This is 2:47 of crickets chirping. Seriously. Another one I'll have to delete off the ol' iPod.
- The Band- "Ophelia"
- Bright Eyes- "Laura Laurent"
- Big Head Todd & The Monsters- "The Moose Song"
- Violent Femmes- "Hallowed Ground"
- Robert Pollard- "Dancing Girls and Dancing Men"
- Cat Stevens- "Wild World"
- The New Pornographers- "July Jones"
- Burning Spear- "Marcus Garvey"
- The Beatles- "Helter Skelter"
- Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, & Tony Rice- "Appetizer 1" Heh heh heh- 7 seconds of music, then Jerry saying "I done fucked it up already." That's it.
- The Beastie Boys- "Stand Together"
- Neil Young- "Hey, Hey, My My (Into the Black)"
- The Replacements- "Alex Chilton"
- Phil Ochs- "There But For Fortune"
- Metallica- "The Call of Ktulu"
That's a pretty solid mix, eh? Happy birthday, iPod!
