3 great MN tunes:
I picked up the new DVD/live CD combo A Positive Rage at the show last night. Haven't listened to it yet, but here are a couple of brand new "bonus tracks," presumably from the Stay Positive sessions. Both feature Franz nice and loud in the mix. Finn and Kubler are churning out songs at a pretty amazing rate- in 5+ years, they've released 43 album tracks, another 11 or so b sides, and at least 5 unreleased songs.
Gotta work early in the AM Saturday, so this will be brief. The fahkers teased me by opening with "Hornets! Hornets!," leaving open the possibility of a Good Friday run through Separation Sunday. But then they went with "Constructive Summer" next. They did end up playing 7 songs from my favorite album. But only 1 song from my 2nd favorite (Almost Killed Me). Great show, great crowd.

Jen, Dom, and I are headed up to the Fox Theater in Boulder to see The Hold Steady tonight. Whoo-hoo! They're my favorite band on the planet, and I haven't seen since September of '07.
Seeing them on Good Friday make perfect sense, since Catholicism is a constant theme in Craig Finn's songs. I would love to hear the album Separation Sunday played straight through, but won't be holding my breath. I like every THS song, except "Navy Sheets," so I'm sure I'll have a blast!
